DuPont Titanium Technologies - Rutile Titanium Dioxide. Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) is the most important white pigment used in the plastics and coatings industries. It is widely used because it efficiently scatters visible light, thereby imparting whiteness, brightness and opacity when incorporated in coatings or plastic products. Grades are differentiated by their purity (TiO2 %), the amount of surface treatment and the type of surface treatment. The different surface treatments provide improvements in performance properties such as: dispersability, hiding power, weatherability and discoloration resistance. R-706 was developed as a general purpose coatings grade and R-103 was developed as a general purpose plastics grade. Please check the hotlink to DuPont for more specific information. |

Malvern Minerals Novacite® is a quartz silica unique in the extender/filler market. Graded by micron size, the individual, unagglomerated particles tend toward a platey structure, which promotes superior leveling, meshing and wear-resistance in many performance applications. Novacite® has the lowest published oil and water adsorbtion of any silica on the market today, this, and its basic absence of sub-1 micron particles enable the formulator to achieve higher solid loading without higher viscosity.
Specialty Minerals, Inc.
Specialty Minerals Inc. (SMI) manufactures precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), ground calcium carbonate (GCC) and ground limestone, talc and barytes in more than 60 locations around the world. Having more than 55 precipitated calcium carbonate plants, SMI is the world's largest manufacturer of PCC, with output of more than 4 million tons each year. Many of these plants are PCC satellite plants located at the site of the paper mill that they serve.
